Radiology Technologist - Fayette, AL

Overview:
The radiologic technologist performs imaging procedures in their area of expertise.

Responsibilities:
1. Provides imaging services to patients of all ages, including neonate, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric through knowledge of PACS.
2. Provides for safety for all radiology services to self, patient, and co-workers.
3. Understands and practices all AIDET principles.
4. Fulfills education requirements as established by ARRT, TJC, and DCH Health System
5. Administers contrast/medications to all assigned patients, according to policy and procedure.
6. Technologist may be rotated at the discretion of her/her supervisor through any modality where competency has been assessed. Included but not limited to: Nuclear Medicine, CT, MRI, Mammography, and Fluoroscopy.
7. Functions proficiently in specified area with little or no supervision.
8. Instructs and supervises student technologists as assigned.
9. Follows the established protocols to provide quality exams.
10. Takes responsibility for the care, cleaning and maintenance of equipment and supplies used in the imaging of all patients.
11. Works with other departments and personnel to provide appropriate and safe care to patients and families.
12. Provides assistance for patients and their families in the department and during transport as appropriate, including any observed needs of the patients
13. Must be efficient in the use of all transport equipment, office equipment and related material essential to good patient care and reports any problems when necessary
14. Takes responsibility to care, cleaning and maintenance of transport equipment used in the transport of patients
15. Takes responsibility for supplies used in transport of patients, i.e.) oxygen cylinders, warm blankets, etc.
16. The following are modality specific key responsibilities and essential functions not listed above.

Mammography:
Maintains personal qualifications as outlined by ACR/FDA/MQSA requirements; maintains quality control record.

MRI:
Must have enhanced knowledge in the area of MRI expertise and skills that are required for maintaining a safe MRI environment daily.
Follows scanning protocols, positions and screening of patients, emergency response to patient and equipment problems.

Nuclear Medicine:
He/she performs nuclear medicine imaging, dilution and uptake procedures. He/she performs quality and radiation control procedures dictated by departmental policy and state regulations.
Performs nuclear medicine procedures in accordance with the authorized users of the facility radioactive materials license.
Provides all quality control and documentation of assay, dispensation and disposal of radioactive materials.
Provides these elements as outlined in departmental policy and as dictated by the State of Alabama’s regulations for radioactive materials.

DCH Standards:
Maintains performance, patient and employee satisfaction and financials standards as outlined in the performance evaluation.
Performs compliance requirements as outlined in the Employee handbook
Must adhere to the DCH Behavioral Standards including creating positive relationships with patient/families, coworkers, colleagues and with self.
Requires use of electronic mail, time and attendance software, learning management software and intranet.
Must adhere to all DCH Health System policies and procedures
All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
1.Graduate of JRCERT approved school of radiologic technology
2. Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in radiography. Certification must be obtained within one year of hire date.
3. BLS required.
4. Must be efficient in the use of all radiologic equipment, office equipment and related material essential to good patient care, imaging exams, processed film or files and reports any problems.
5. Must be able to read, write legibly, speak and comprehend English

SUMMARY

The job of Registration Clerk is done for the efficient and orderly admission of inpatients, and the registration of outpatients and ensures that accurate patient information is collected.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Arranges for the accurate registration of patients.
2. Answer all incoming phone calls promptly and courteously and route correctly.
3. Responsible for verifying patient insurance coverage.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Greeting of visitors and patients.
2. Notifying the correct departments of the patient’s arrival.
3. Complies with all HIPAA regulations.
4. All other basic clerical duties as assigned by the Director of Registration.
5. Additional aid as assigned by the Director of Security with approval from the Director of Registration.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

1. Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required. This is normally acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent.
2. Excellent grammar and spelling skills, and knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
3. Requires excellent interpersonal, telephone, and organizational skills.
4. Visibility requires maintaining a professional appearance and providing a positive company image to the public.

WORKING CONDITIONS

1. Working conditions are normal for an office environment.
2. Room temperature varies with many noises.
3. Normally works in a well-lighted, well-ventilated area.
4. Must be able to work under the stress and conditions that normally exist in hospital settings.
5. Classification Category II – Tasks that involve no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues but that may require performance of Category I tasks unexpectedly or on short notice.

SUMMARY

Under the general supervision of a supervisor, the medical laboratory technician provides technical assistance in the performance of routine tests.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Prepares reagents and solutions.
2. Examine and analyze bodily fluids and cells.
3. Reports abnormalities and maintains a detailed record of daily activities.
4. Performs phlebotomy procedures when necessary.
5. Type and cross-match blood samples.


ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Responsible for lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling objects.
2. Ability to lift and carry objects up to fifty (50) pounds in weight.
3. Attends mandatory meetings.
4. Adheres to the dress code, attendance, and all other company policies and procedures.


KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

1. Associate of Science degree in medical technology or life sciences or accredited MLT program.
2. ASCP or AMT certification preferred.
3. Two (2) years of experience in a hospital setting preferred.

Essential Functions Statement(s)

• Schedule student's medical appointments.
• Review consult forms and refer to consulting physician for further care.
• Order medications.
• End of month doctors’ orders (MAR).
• Organize shift report, present in shift change.
• Attends meetings such as in-service, student care meetings, nursing meetings, and staff meetings as directed by Supervisor and uses own initiative.
• Monitor students using student record and contact sheets; Doctor's orders and instructions; nursing policies and facility directive, in order to ensure continuity of student care and to initiate appropriate action.
• Provides emergency life support to students and staff in life threatening situations using basic life support measures.
• Administers prescribed student medication using standard nursing procedures and following Doctor's orders via oral and written instructions. Administration of medication is properly documented in accordance with program policy and procedure manual.
• Document on program forms as necessary in a neat and legible manner using only black ink. Forms should be completed and routed as noted in program directives and contain appropriate information.
• Gathers and exchanges information with Doctor and other disciplines in an accurate, prompt, and concise manner.
• Examines students thoroughly and in accordance with standard nursing procedures using stethoscope, blood pressure cuff, tongue blades, penlights, thermometer; reviews tests, lab results, past health findings and health records in order to establish physical status of student. Documents completed assessment/screening immediately in student's record.
• Transcribes physical orders using Doctor Order Sheet in order to make available information from the physician to other pertinent staff. Transcription of orders should be accurate using approved abbreviations. Transcriptions are completed on same day of order and in accordance with program directives.
• Serves on the designated committees as assigned by Clinical Director or Executive Director.
• Other reasonably related business duties as assigned by supervisor, the Clinical Director, Executive Director, or Health Authority.

• Adheres to Brighter Path policy and practice concerning issues of creation, editing, transmission, storage and disposition of all Protected Health Information (PHI).

Education: Must be a graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.

Certifications &
Licenses: Current LPN license issued by the State of Alabama Board of Nursing.
This position requires current certification in CPR, First Aid, SAMA, Behavior Management System; Preventing Disease Transmission (PDT), Diagnosis; and Environment of Care. Additional certification or training may be required as deemed necessary by Brighter Path to fulfill job duties and responsibilities.
