    JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
    Must be able to perform the services provided in the practice of anesthesia.  Services must be performed under the auspices of the surgeon or obstetrician responsible for the patient’s care. 

    Must possess the ability to adequately perform the following:
    Directs, implements, and evaluates appropriate age specific care to patients requiring anesthesia, under the clinical supervision of a staff physician, but subject to constraints as defined ultimately by Hospital Administration and established herein.
    Works cooperatively with Hospital Administration and Medical Staff within the purview of defined responsibility.
    Possesses a commitment to maintain current professional knowledge in nursing anesthesia. 
    Must be able to work cooperatively with clinical support services personnel in rendering patient care per respective departmental policies and procedures.

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    Current Alabama licensure as a Registered Nurse, as well as current licensure as a CRNA. 

    EXPERIENCE:
    Must have a minimum of one-year experience as a CRNA, preferred, but waived in lieu of outstanding performance as a student for the interval as a CRNA less than one year. 

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
    The ability to negotiate within hospital structures and limited space to perform essential functions and tasks applicable to job specifications and duties.
    Must be able to lift and carry a minimum weight of 50 pounds.
    Must possess normal hearing and vision or hearing and vision is correctable to normal.

    This is field contact and general duty law enforcement work, after successful completion of

    Serves summons, warrants, subpoenas, eviction orders and other legal orders issued by courts.
    Appears in court and furnishes evidence and testifies. Transport deceased persons to or from the proper facility in Tuscaloosa or Montgomery.     • Utilizes RFID devices to record cell checks
    • Distributes and accounts for jail issued toiletries and meals
    • Attends pre-shift muster briefings before the beginning of each shift
    • Monitors docking area
    • Responds to public distress signal (i.e., panic button) from visitors at the facility
    • Administers DMT to arrestees suspected of being intoxicated
    • Inventories razors as they are distributed and returned from each pod
    • Coordinates inmate movements for court
    • Cares for & maintains issued equipment & uniforms
    • May be required to perform other tasks as assigned by supervisor

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
    Citizenship: United States citizen
    Age: 18 years of age or older
    Education: High School Diploma or GED

    OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must pass a physical exam, background
    investigation, drug screen, CVSA, and interviews prior to appointment.

    WORKING CONDITIONS:
    This position has a high risk of personal injury as compared to the general
    population.
    Work environment involves exposure to a number of adverse conditions
    including, but not limited to, angry or hostile inmates, bodily fluids, high noise
    levels, moderate heights, mechanical hazards, slippery floors, bodily injuries,
    offensive odors, dust, and pollen.

    Examinations: Applicants are also screened and certified based on an
    evaluation of their education, training, experience and other requirements as
    outlined in this position description and denoted on their job application, and
    responses to any supplemental questionnaire. Successful candidates must
    successfully complete the Tuscaloosa County Jail Management School during
    their first year of employment.
